PM ARTIST: GREGORY CHILHA
French artist Gregory Chiha's gripping and curious works conjure dark, imaginative inquiry. Realistic backgrounds are populated by vague, distorted figures depicted with thick, abstract, primary-colored strokes of paint. Dense forests and calm interiors stand solid and immortal in stark contrast to the fleeting vision of denigrating souls that vaporize amidst forces unknown. At times they seem aware of their morphing physicality, holding up their hands as if to shield their faces; other times they stand with arms loose and at their sides, giving in and letting themselves be overtaken by this unstoppable force.

BERLIN – L.A. TRILOGY #I, CHRIS ENGMAN. NOV 27 - JAN 23, 2016
We are very pleased to announce “Landscapes”, an exhibition by photographer Chris Engman and the first part of our Berlin – L.A. trilogy. Following an invitation by 68 projects, Engman (*1978, lives and works in L.A.) worked in Berlin for two months during the summer of 2015. The result is an impressive series of photos, which once again questions the connection between image and reality and thus exposes our conventional seeing habits. The works from his Berlin studio are juxtaposed with photos taken on the West coast of the US, many of them in the desert.
